February is an excellent month for Coron's lakes, lagoons and beaches, and one of its busiest. The Coron weather station averages only 22.9 mm of rain over two rainy days, but famous stops such as Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon can be congested when several groups arrive together.
Choose a shared Ultimate Tour for value, or a private boat if you want to set the order of stops and the pace. Neither guarantees an empty viewpoint, and the Amihan wind can still affect exposed routes.
| Month | Average rainfall | Rainy days | Average daily high |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | 19.2 mm | 3 | 32.5°C |
| February | 22.9 mm | 2 | 32.7°C |
| March | 15.4 mm | 3 | 33.1°C |

The signature lakes and a shallow wreck in one day, at a per-person price.
The shared Ultimate Tour covers Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon and Barracuda Lake, and usually the Skeleton Wreck and a coral snorkelling stop, for a much lower price than chartering a boat. You follow the group's schedule, so there is little room to linger at a busy stop. For solo travellers and couples who do not want a whole boat, it is still the best first-day choice in February.
Hot, dry and close to the top of the visitor season.
February pairs hot tropical weather with some of the lowest rainfall of the year. The average daily high reaches 32.7°C, and the station records an average of only two rainy days. The municipal tourism office has described February as around the local peak of the visitor season, in reporting by Palawan News.
How crowded it feels depends on the stop. You can find a calm beach on the same morning the steps up to Kayangan's famous viewpoint are packed. Be wary of any guide that promises a February date with no other tour groups.
For a February boat day or a day on land: Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon and Barracuda Lake on Coron Island, the Skeleton Wreck and the Lusong wrecks and coral gardens, the white-sand islands of Malcapuya, Banana Island, Bulog Dos and Ditaytayan, and around Coron Town, Mount Tapyas and Maquinit Hot Springs.
Your arrival time matters more than your date.
The most useful thing you can control is when your boat actually reaches the lakes. Ask the operator when the boat will leave, whether Kayangan Lake can be the first stop, what time the site admits visitors and whether permits are arranged. An advertised 7:30 a.m. meeting time does not mean you will be first at the lakes.
A private Coron boat can change the order of stops when the sites allow it. Its fixed and custom options have different fee arrangements. Ask the captain whether reversing the route, or concentrating on three key stops, would make the day more enjoyable. The best order changes with the tides, site management and the other boats, and there is no hour that is quiet everywhere.
Price per person against control of the day.
The shared Coron Ultimate Tour (4.85 from 1,523 reviews, from $42 per person) covers the signature lakes and often the Skeleton Wreck and coral snorkelling at an easy per-person price. You are tied to the group schedule, which can leave little flexibility at busy stops. It remains an excellent first-day choice for solo travellers and couples.
The private boat hire (4.93 from 810 reviews, $117 per group of up to two) pays off for families, photographers and anyone happy to see fewer places more slowly. It does not buy you the public attractions to yourself, and it does not exempt you from rough-sea restrictions. Add up all the fees and equipment for your whole party before comparing the two prices.
Once you have seen Kayangan, Twin Lagoon and Barracuda, choose something different.
The Malcapuya, Banana Island and Bulog Dos tour (4.46 from 98 reviews, from $46) gives you white sand and sandbars. The Malcapuya and Ditaytayan beaches tour (4.53 from 107 reviews) appeals to beach photographers. The crossings to these outer islands are longer and more exposed, and they are no substitute for the classic circuit on a windy day. Our guide to Malcapuya in December to February explains the trade-off.
If marine life matters more to you, a reefs and wrecks route around Lusong has shallow historical wrecks and coral gardens. The shared Reef and Wreck tour is one version, but it has only 3.40 stars from 9 reviews, so read recent feedback before you book it. Do not assume every "Ultimate" or "Reefs & Wrecks" itinerary includes the same places.
Two holidays, Valentine's Day, and Holy Week just after.
Chinese New Year falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, an additional special non-working day, and Valentine's Day falls on Sunday 14 February. Both may shape some travellers' plans, but there is no reliable forecast of how busy any single day will be. The EDSA anniversary on Thursday 25 February is a special working day, so it is not an extra day off for most people. All three holiday dates are set out in Proclamation No. 1427, the official 2027 calendar.
March has slightly less rain in total and comes after February's reported peak, but late March 2027 is Holy Week (Maundy Thursday falls on 25 March), so March is not uniformly quiet either.
How many full tour days you get, and where the spare one comes from.
Three nights usually give you two full sightseeing days: the Ultimate Tour first and a beach or reef tour second, with arrival and departure on separate days.
A fourth night adds a spare full day for rest or for moving a tour. Our 3 or 4 day Coron itinerary sets out each plan day by day.
An early departure is mainly about crowds and the schedule. It does not guarantee better underwater visibility, less swell or early entry to a site.
Wind and swell matter more than showers.
A light shower does not have to stop a tour. Under a clear sky, though, Amihan wind and swell can make an exposed crossing unsuitable. The route, the boat, the captain's assessment and any maritime directions in force are what count. Check the PAGASA marine gale warnings and confirm your booking with the operator. The Philippine Coast Guard's revised heavy-weather rules govern affected vessel movements, and a private charter cannot sail through an official suspension.
The operator cancelling is not the same as you cancelling because a weather app looks bad. Read your tour's operator-cancellation terms as well as its standard deadline for cancelling yourself, and see our Coron tour cancellations guide for how refunds work.

Book the lakes tour for your first full day, ask how early the boat actually arrives, and save the outer-island beaches for a second day the operator confirms.
